Founded in 1864, Shalford Cricket Club has been a pillar of the local community for generations. However, rising utility costs and aging infrastructure were placing significant strain on the club’s finances. Seeking a solution that aligned with modern sustainability standards, the club partnered with Raven Renewables to implement an innovative transformation.

With funding from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) grant and the expertise of Raven Renewables, Shalford Cricket Club embraced a sustainability-focused upgrade:

• Water Efficiency: Four modern showers with reduced water usage to combat peak summer expenses.
• Solar Power and Battery Storage: An 8-panel, 3.64 kWp solar PV system paired with a 5 kWh Growatt battery storage, enabling the club to harness and store clean energy for evening use.
• LED Lighting: Installation of modern LED lighting for energy efficiency and compliance with safety standards, including emergency lighting and smoke alarms.

The Results

The upgrades delivered immediate, impactful results for the club:

• Financial Savings: Hundreds of pounds saved annually, allowing for reinvestment into club activities.
• Energy Independence: Reduced reliance on the grid, with solar power supporting operations long after sunset.
